Description
Looking down toward the Verde Valley from a scenic vantage point above Jerome Arizona. Jerome is a town in the Black Hills of Yavapai County. Founded in the late 19th century on Cleopatra Hill (the name Cleopatra comes from one of the original copper mines in the area), Jerome was a bustling mining town with over ten thousand residents. It was quite a lawless place, earning the title of 'wildest town in the west'. Nowadays Jerome has mellowed, it has less than 500 residents and is a quaint and charming place to visit with cute shops, museums and a number of choices of eateries and places to wet your whistle.
