Description
Alone in the Light- A light from above streams down on a forlorn wooded stool, standing alone and forgotten in an abandoned jail cell in Philadelphia's Eastern State Penitentiary.
Eastern State Penitentiary is located in Philadelphia Pennsylvania. It was opened in 1829 and was considered the first true penitentiary; it was originally built to hold 300 prisoners in solitary confinement but due to overcrowding, prisoners began sharing cells after 1912. The prison closed in 1971; it is now a U.S. National Historic Landmark.
