High on a hill, overlooking the city of Jabalpur India, partially erected on a huge boulder sits an abandoned ancient fortress. The Rani Durgawati Fort was built by the Gond rular Raja Madan Shah in 1116. The fortress is named after Rani Durgawati, the ruling queen of the area in the mid 1500s. She was a fierce warrior who died fighting for her land and people.
