Description
The white and lavender Columbine is the state flower of Colorado. With its cupped inner petals and colorful outer petals, columbine attracts moths, butterflies and hummingbirds that drink the nectar and in turn pollinate the flower; it's a lovely symbiotic relationship. Columbine grow as wildflowers in the rocky mountains but can also be found domestically as they are easy to grow and add a unique and colorful addition to any garden. Columbine are also known colloquially as 'granny's bonnets' since the shape of the flower resembles hats worn in the 1800s.
