Description
The Supreme Court building is located in Washington DC, the capital of the United States. The building, constructed in the neoclassic style of architecture, has tall columns, statues and friezes adorning it's marble exterior. This grandly designed building completed in 1935, much to the chagrin of some of the court justices from that time, who thought the building was too regal and pretentious (previously, the justices worked from a small courtroom inside the Capitol Building) .
Pictured here is the eastern pediment and carved above the columns reads 'Justice The Guardian of Liberty'. The United States of America is based on a just system of law, and every citizen in the US who recites the Pledge of Allegiance knows these words: "I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all"...This is the building where we all hope fairness, justice and equality prevails!
The Supreme Court building is registered as a National Historic Landmark.
