Description
A female Gambel's quail struts through the undergrowth of a desert garden. The Gambel's quail are primarily ground dwellers that live in deserts of the Southwest United States. They are mostly found gathered together in coveys of various sized. They live along brushy washes and cactus-studded arroyos where they feed on plants and seeds. Males and females both sport a topknot of feathers that bob up and down as they move.
